CHRISTINE, Texas [Jan. 10, 2022] – San Miguel Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SMEC) has announced its annual donations to the charitable organizations that help support the needs of the local community surrounding the Cooperative’s South Texas geographic areas.
“For many in our community, it’s been a difficult year, partly due to the repercussions of the pandemic,” said SMEC General Manager/CEO Nathan Brown. “To help overcome these circumstances and many others, we welcome the opportunity to support the qualifying organizations in our community. Through our yearly charitable funds, as well as the countless hours our employees spend on helping their neighbors, we strive to make a difference in peoples’ lives,” said Brown.
In 2021, San Miguel gave $1,000 donations to the following organizations:
Jamie’s Ranch for Special Kids
Safer Path Family Violence Shelter
Bountiful Blessings Food Pantry
Atascosa County Child Care Board
Atascosa Animal Allies
Texas Ramp Project
Children Matter Family Life Center
The Campbellton Volunteer Fire Department
The Christine Volunteer Fire Department
The Jourdanton Volunteer Fire Department
The Leming Volunteer Fire Department
The Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department
The Poteet Volunteer Fire Department
In addition to providing these grants, the Cooperative and its employees in 2021 provided 220 volunteer hours to Jamie’s Ranch for Special Kids, the Bountiful Blessings Food Pantry, the Texas Ramp Project, the Poteet Volunteer Fire Department and the Purple Heart Challenge.
